Thanksgiving with the Kinnisons

We spent some time with my family and here are some of the highlights...

Brian decided to try jumping off the roof...luckily someone caught him.

Steven climbed a tree
(he was pretending to be Edward from Twilight)

This is Steven, Janna, and me just before the hammock broke due to excessive weight--luckily no one was injured, just some sore tailbones!

Here's Steven jumping over the fence

Air guitar mid air!

And I learned to fly amazingly enough

Brian decided to take some family pics as well. That's the Kern River in Bakersfield behind us.

Me, Bree, and Janna chilling on a rock

An intense game of teatherball!

Brian was a little too into the game

Overall, it was a lot of fun. Right now we are in Bakersfield again for Christmas...we'll post another blog soon.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

25 weeks

The belly is getting cuter and bigger. It seems that all of the sudden it has doubled in size. It so weird and exciting to think that in less than 4 months we are going to be parents to a little baby girl. We are doing all we can to get prepared for this calling but I don't think anything we do will really get us ready. I painted her room last week when Heather was out of town for a dental conference in San Fransisco. I hope our little girl likes it. We know she will be a great addition to our lives.

Cat or Dog?

I was sitting down on the couch last week watching a show and our cat/dog Jasmine, brought her favorite toy to me, Moglie's collar. I picked it up and threw it across the room. Leaping from the couch and over the coffee table she pounced onto the collar. She must have received so much joy and excitement from this because she brought it right back to me. I again did the same thing not thinking twice about the fact that she brought it back. After about 4 times or so I realized that our cat was playing fetch like a dog. :) We then played fetch until she had done this as many as 20 times bringing it right back to my side and waited, looking right at me. She then got tired and decided not to bring the collar back knowing that she would have to chase it if it were thrown. So everyday since then she has to get her dose of fetch. Heather and I thought this was a funny story. Has anyone ever heard of a cat playing fetch?

IT'S A GIRL!

So we found out a couple weeks ago that we are going to have a baby girl and we couldn't be happier. My entire first trimester Brian would refer to the baby as if she were a he. I told him he shouldn't call the baby a he because it might be a girl, and now we see that I was right.

Throughout the pregnancy, I was trying so hard not to care if it was a boy or girl so that when I found out, I wouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get what I was wanting. So when I found out I was having a girl, I started becoming very excited because I realized I get to play dress up, ponys, barbies, etc. all over again with my daughter. I get to vicariously relive parts of my childhood! We are going to have so much fun!

All along Brian has been saying that he wanted it to be a boy, and so, naturally, I assumed that he was disappointed. But, to my surprise, he told me that he secretly was hoping for a girl. Plus, everyone kept telling him how much fun girls are and how special the whole daddy-daughter bond is and so he is just as excited as I am. And this (above) is Brian's favorite outfit for the baby so far--my mom got it for us a week or so ago.

So this is one of the baby blankets my mom made me. Isn't it just so adorable! The whole back side is made out of the same fabric as the border--Super soft and silky pale pink. The baby is going to love it! Thanks, MOM!!!

Yes, we have already started acquiring our baby's wardrobe. Girl clothes are just so much fun to shop for!

FINALLY THE 2ND TRIMESTER!

Here you can see my little baby bump. I am 18weeks or 4 1/2 months already. The baby is about 8 inches long now and weighs 8 ounces more or less. They have changed my due date to March 8th because of how big the baby is already. I was pretty stoked to have my due date moved up! The morning sickness is pretty much all the way gone. I still get a little queezy if I don't eat in time which seems to happen a few times a day since the baby gets hungry a lot faster than I do. Yes, I've decided that when I get queezy, it is the baby telling me he or she is hungry--since the nausea goes away once I have eaten something with some substance. I say substance because the baby does not like it if I try to get away with just eating a few crackers and juice, for example. Lately, I've been craving egg salad sandwiches on toast, juice, cereal, and sloppy joes. I've found that I have even more food aversions--salsa, onions, garlic, all greek food, or anything with a strong flavor. It seems that most everything I loved before I was pregnant just tastes okay now. This tends to get pretty annoying because I turn to my old favorites a lot only to be disappointed. Hopefully, after I deliver the baby my taste buds will change back to the way they were.
It is so weird having a growing belly! And it is even weirder to think that this is only the tip of the ice berg. Judging by how big I already am, I'll probably be enormous by the time I deliver!

Jumping around at the park :)

Another baby bump pic

Brian standing in front of a huge cactus. So handsome!

More fun with the leaves. Yay for Fall!

Our first ultasound--12 weeks. So cute!

And this is the baby at 15 1/2 weeks. Brian and I thought this was a little scary. Obviously, in real life the baby will be a lot cuter. :)

Our cats are turning on us!

I think the cats have decided they don't like us anymore. Its seems they feel the time has come for them to put us in our place. We never suspected this and don't know what to do. Take a look at these incriminating photos.

Jasmine has been spying on us from the shadows...

Here she is again surreptitiously plotting to herself...

Moglie actually attacked us!

Our sweet Jazz began to be belligerent too...

Leaping on us even!

I hope you all enjoyed this little blog. Of course the cats are not attacking or anything. We happened to take some rather malicious-looking photos and thought you all would enjoy! ;)

Mammoth Camping

Well this summer has finally been completed now that I had the opportunity of going camping. I've been wanting to go for sometime now and had a great time out there in the wild. I had so much fun. Heather stayed home with the cats to keep them company and she likes about one day of camping and that's about it so I went alone with some friends from church. The location we went camping in was at Mary lake which is just below Mammoth mt. There were so many beautiful lakes, trees, wildlife, rocks and scenery around there. What a great place to camp.
The whole time we were there we kept hearing about the bears getting into peoples food but never could find them. Finally we heard of a mom and her cub down by one of the other lakes. We ran over to check them out and were able to get some great pics. I even got a little closer then I wanted to. I lost sight of them and ran out into the woods and then all the sudden they popped out from around a corner. I was literally 15 feet away from them. It was a little scary but fun at the same time. I also went mt biking up at Mammoth ski resort with a couple friends too. We all came out alive after we had each taken several spills.
I spent about 12-15 hours fishing and didn't come away with anything. I guess I am not a fisherman. I was even thinking about doing the Bear Grills thing from Man vs. Wild and just catching my food each day. I'm glad I didn't do that cause I would have died. I didn't think catching a fish was that hard but it was for me. Everyone else that went fishing caught one. One lady even caught one with her hands. I think it was almost dead though. I don't know what my problem was. Oh well, next time. Well here are some of the images I captured.

Heather and I just got back from a very fun family reunion up in Sundance, UT last week. We had a BBQ with the family, went hiking up to some beautiful waterfalls, went river rafting down the Provo river, ate tons of food, played fun games, laughed our heads off, played tricks on the family, went down the alpine slides and zip lines, and we also broke the news to the family about us having a baby. It was so much fun to be together again. Maybe next time all of us can be there. We missed out on a few for part of the time there. Here are some of the images that were taken.
